Today's browsers can do a lot: play a video frame by frame, compress a photo, record the sound from a microphone. HedgieTools uses these abilities to do the work right on your device.
The result: it's fast, since nothing is uploaded or downloaded, and private by nature. We can't see your files, even if we wanted to.

Who's behind HedgieTools
HedgieTools is an independent project, born in France. It started with a small frustration: having to upload a family photo to an unknown site just to resize it. Since then, the toolbox keeps growing with your needs and your ideas.
Security: nothing to leak
Your files are never uploaded or stored on our side: there is nothing to intercept on the way, and nothing to steal from our servers, even in case of a breach.

Frequently asked questions
Are my files sent anywhere?
No. Your files are opened and processed by your browser, on your device. They don't go through any server, and we never have access to them. When you close the page, nothing is left.
Do you collect data about me?
No personal information is needed to use the tools: no account, no advertising, no resale. We only count page visits, anonymously and without cookies, to know which tools to improve. You give us information only if you choose to: your e-mail address for the newsletter, or a message through our forms, hosted by Tally and Brevo. The details are on the Privacy page.
Is it really free?
Yes, every tool is free, with no limit on how many times you use it and no watermark added to your results.
Do I need an account?
No. Your favorites and your custom shortcuts are kept in your browser, on your device. If you switch browsers or clear its data, they disappear.
Does it work on a phone?
Yes, the site is built for phones and tablets, and you can even install HedgieTools like an app: it's all explained on the PC & Mobile page. A few tools rely on features that some phones don't offer (screen recording, for example) and tell you when that's the case.
Does it work offline?
HedgieTools isn't an offline app: you need a connection to open a page, and some tools load extra parts the first time you use them. Once a tool is ready, it works on your device and keeps going if your connection drops, since your files are never sent anywhere.
Is there a file size limit?
HedgieTools sets no general limit: what you can open depends on your device's memory, and a very large file may be slow or fail on an older phone. A few tools set a safeguard (for example, 2 GB for videos) and tell you when a file is too large.
