Compress GIFs for free

Why a GIF is so heavy

The GIF format is old: each frame of the animation is saved almost whole, with 256 colors at most. Reducing dimensions and colors, or keeping only every other frame, often divides the weight by three or more.

MP4: much lighter

If the GIF is meant for a website or a presentation, convert it to a looping MP4 video instead: the same look, for a fraction of the weight. Keep the GIF for messaging apps and forums.

Nothing is uploaded
